Residents urged to help consultation on 20 mile per hour roads across Westmorland
Anyone who has opinions on proposals has until Friday to make them heard
Residents in the Westmorland and Furness area of Cumbria have until Friday (July 18th) to give their opinions on proposals to expand speed zones in its area.
In total, 79 locations across the council's jurisdiction have brought in zones to reduce the speed to 20 miles per hour in an effort to reduce road deaths.
Plans have been proposed to expand the 20mph zones across further areas, with a new consultation underway to gather opinions from the local community.
Under the new proposals, another 24 areas across the region will have their own 20mph scheme being implemented, which will be brought in by 2026.
The consultation was initially opened on June 4th, and will run until Friday, after which the council will use the information gathered to decide how it will proceed with the proposals.
Should there be any feedback in regard to the decisions, changes will be made in order to strike a balance between the council and residents.
The final designs on where the limits will fall will then be debated, subject to local traffic orders.
