Walker collapses and dies in the Lake District

A man's collapsed and died while out walking in the Lake District.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team say they were called out to Skiddaw on Friday (20 September) after a group of walkers came across a man who was unresponsive.

The air ambulance was called - but sadly the man died.

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team wrote on their website:

'A group of walkers came across a man who had collapsed and was unresponsive on the summit ridge of Skiddaw.

'The group immediately commenced CPR whilst calling the emergency services.

'Helimed 58 quickly deployed and landed nearby whilst Keswick MRT ascended from Dodd Wood.

'Despite the best efforts of all involved nothing could be done to save the man.

'Our thoughts and condolences go to the man’s family and friends.'
