Two dead and two seriously injured in A66 crash near Workington

Police are appealing for witnesses after a crash on the A66 left two people dead and two others seriously injured.

The collision happened at around 6.38pm on Saturday (July 12) at Twenty Row, near Workington, and involved a silver Audi A3 and a black Ford Focus.

The driver of the Ford, a man in his thirties, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remains in a stable condition.

A woman in her thirties, who was in the front passenger seat, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Audi, also a man in his thirties, was seriously hurt and is in hospital.

His front seat passenger, a man in his thirties, died at the scene.

Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage from the area at the time to come forward.
