Two charged with theft in Penrith

Officers received repots of theft at a retail premises in the town

Two people have been charged with theft after reports of shoplifting at two retail premises in Penrith.

A man and a woman were detained by Eden Neighbourhood Policing officers shortly after police received the report on 1st July.

Heather Rae, aged 46, of Durranhill Road, Carlisle and Martin Bainbridge , aged 42, of Margaret Creighton Gardens, Carlisle have been charged with theft.

Both are due to appear before Carlisle Magistrates Court on 4 August 2025.

Cumbria Police said:

"The arrest and charges were made during Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week – a week of action aimed at raising awareness of ASB and the issues it can bring to communities."
