A man known in Cumbria has escaped from a Scottish prison.

Martin Jackson is on the run after he absconded from HMP Castle Huntly in Dundee on Wednesday, with police now warning not to approach him.

As well as his links to Ayrshire, 33-year-old Jackson is also known in Ayrshire

He is described as white, of medium build and around 5ft 10ins tall, bald with red facial hair.

He was last known to be wearing a grey top and bottoms with a dark jacket, and officers advise he may have with him a grey backpack, white plastic bag and a black baseball cap.

Any sightings or information can be passed to officers via 101, quoting reference 3722 of 28 August.
