Police have charged a man with the murder of a woman in West Cumbria.

Paul Irwin, who's 50 and from Whitehaven, is charged with the murder of Tiffany Render, 34, also of Whitehaven.

He was also charged with sexual assault.

Irwin appeared before Workington Magistrates Court today (26 March) and was remanded into custody. He is due to appear before Carlisle Crown Court tomorrow (27 March).

The charge follows an investigation after officers were called to a property on George Street, Whitehaven at around 11:45pm on 22 March 2024.

The family of Tiffany Render have paid tribute to her life.

They said:

“It is with great sadness that Tiffany has so tragically been taken from us.

“Tiffany will be sorely missed by her whole family.

“We will treasure every memory of her."
