Two arrests in Whitehaven following discover of cannabis farm

Police have arrested two people following warrant at a property on Lowther Street

Officers from intel, CID, Tactical Support Group and the Neighbourhood Policing Team conducted the warrant earlier this morning (6 Aug) discovered a cannabis farm at the property with approximately 1,000 plants.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and remain in police custody.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The warrant was conducted as part of Operation Lookout which is the force response to tackling commercial cannabis grows.

The police are asking people to be vigilant and in a statement explains:

"The tell-tale signs that could indicate a cannabis farm is in your neighbourhood include strong, sickly smells coming from properties

"Properties where the windows are constantly covered.

"Excessive security around properties, such as CCTV and High levels of unusual condensation on windowsLots of visitors – and at unsociable hours.

"Bright lights day and night.

"Constant buzz of ventilation."
