Northern running 'extremely reduced service' along Cumbrian coast line
The operator say they may not be able to guarantee return journeys between Carlisle and Lancaster
Northern are operating an "extremely reduced" train service along the Cumbrian coast line on Sunday.
The operator say it is due to a shortage of train crew, with "very short notice cancellations" expected.
Northern add they may not be able to provide a return journey on services running between Carlisle and Lancaster.
Major rail disruption is anticipated across the North West, with Northern urging people not to travel to various routes in the Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire area.
The operator say no alternative travel is available, but that people can claim for a full refund online if their train is cancelled, and they purchased their ticket through Northern.
