Man jailed following arson at flat in Carlisle
Police were called to on Citadel Row at 12:45am on 16 June 2025.
A man from Carlisle has been jailed for arson after a fire at a flat on Citadel Row, Carlisle.
Daniel Carter, 26, of Reeth Road, Carlisle was jailed for two years and eight months years for arson while being reckless as to whether life was endangered.
The court heard that police were alerted to the fire on 16 June 2025 at 12:45am due to suspicions into how the fire had started.
Investigations found that there were several ignition points were the fire was started with household items set alight.
Damage appeared to also have been caused to the flat other than by the fire.
The estimated damage to the flat was £60,000.
Speaking on the case Detective Emma Barker from Cumberland CID said “Fires can quickly become out of control putting people’s lives at risk.
“Carter made significant comments at the scene about being responsible for the fire.
“Thankfully, in this case the occupants of the property and surrounding flats were evacuated to safety with no one injured.”
