Police say a person has died following an incident near Keswick.

Earlier today the A66 near the town was closed as emergency services were called out.

The road was shut between Low Briery and the Crosthwaite roundabout, with traffic diverted into Keswick. The road has now reopened.

Officers say they were called out at 9.44am to reports a man had fallen from a bridge in the area.

Emergency services attended but the man was declared dead at the scene.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances at this time.
