Police have charged a man with possession with intent to supply after a traffic stop on the M6 in Cumbria yesterday (16th October).

Officers stopped the white Volkswagen Golf near to Junction 40 by Penrith.

Around five kilograms of cocaine, thought to have street value close to half a million pounds, were recovered from the vehicle .

42-year-old Anthony Ali from Bradford has been charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

He is due to appear before South Cumbria Magistrates Court tomorrow (18th October).

The seizure forms part of forms part of Operation Alliance which is Cumbria Constabulary’s ongoing response to protect the county against serious and organised crime.
