A man has been charged with grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon following an incident in Carlisle which left a man needing hospital treatment.
Police were called at around 10.45am on Monday (21 Feb) following a report of a man having suffered a serious facial injury, in the Court Square area of Botchergate.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with an injury to his mouth area believed to have been caused by a knife or other bladed article. The man was subsequently released from hospital, the injury having required stitches.
Officers attended scene and, at around 11.20am, an arrest was made in the Denton Holme area.
The arrested man, Ricky Murphy, 25, of Raven Nook, Carlisle, was subsequently charged with grievous bodily harm and possession on an offensive weapon.
He attended Carlisle Magistrates’ Court yesterday (22 February), where he was remanded to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on 22 March, 2022.
Detectives remain keen to hear from anyone who witnesses what happened, or the moments immediately before and after.
