Man arrested over Greenodd roundabout crash

A man's been arrested over a crash which closed a major road in Greenodd.

It happened on the A590 early this morning and affected the rush hour.

Emergency services were called to the Greenodd roundabout at around 3am.

They found a car which had been involved in a crash - and arrested a 38 year old at the scene.

The suspect was taken to hospital to be checked over.

He's now in custody on suspicion of robbery, failing to stop, dangerous driving and attacking an emergency worker.

Cumbria Police statement

"Police were called at around 3am today (April 6) to the report of a single vehicle road traffic collision on A590 at Greenodd roundabout.

"The collision involved a Vauxhall Corsa.

"A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery, failing to stop at the scene of a collision, dangerous driving and assaulting an emergency worker. He remains in police custody.

"He was taken to Furness General Hospital to be checked over.
