A man's been arrested in connection with a racist incident at the Carlisle United match at the weekend.

One of the match officials was abused during the game against Oxford United at Brunton Park on Saturday afternoon.

The incident occurred during the final ten minutes of the match in the home section of the Andrew Jenkins Stand.

The 38-year-old man from Carlisle has been detained on suspicion of racially aggravated public order.

Before the arrest was made, the club's Chief executive Nigel Clibbens released a statement.

He said:

"This is a deplorable incident and despite recent appeals, another case of unacceptable fan behaviour."

It's the latest report of crowd trouble at the stadium - after an opposition goalkeeper said he was abused during a game on New Year's day.

Four young people have been issued interim bans from Brunton Park whilst authorities continue to look into what happened.
