Major road upgrades to take place in Seaton
Cumberland Council have issued a warning to motorists that road closures will be in force for two weeks from tomorrow (31 July)
Drivers in Seaton are warned full road closures will be in place, with no through road to Workington from tomorrow.
It’s because of major infrastructure upgrades to the roads between Jackson Street and Derwent avenue.
Cumberland council say the £165,000 scheme includes replacing street lighting, adding new school patrol signs and resurfacing.
In a statement on their Facebook Page, Cumberland Council said: "We are investing £165,000 in Seaton – for infrastructure improvements, including resurfacing and replacing street light columns:
"There will be resurfacing from Monday 31 July to Friday 11 August on Main Road, Seaton - from Jackson Street to beyond the junction of Derwent Avenue - with a full road closure in place.
"We will be replacing some street lighting columns from Calva Farm and the access to Derwent Bank.
"We will be installing new school patrol signs and amber warning beacons to warn drivers to slow down at Seaton Junior School. The road will be fully closed with no through road to Workington and Seaton.
"A signed diversion route via Lowca Lane will allow alternative access to Seaton.
"We appreciate your support and patience during these works and apologise for any inconvenience and disruption caused."
