A man has been banned from Carlisle city centre for five years after being given a Criminal Behaviour Order today (25th June).

Lucian Iliescu, who's 50-years-old, was sentenced at Carlisle Magistrates Court for theft, criminal damage and a public order offence from earlier this year.

A Cumbria police spokesperson said the conditions of his order are:

  • not to enter Carlisle City Centre
  • not to display behaviour in a public place likely to cause nuisance or annoyance to members of the public
  • not to be in possession of any unsealed vessel containing alcohol in any public place, except Inside a licensed premises

Police Constable Beal said: "This Criminal Behaviour Order will prevent Iliescu from further criminality and help protect business owners and local residents in Carlisle.

"Securing this order during Neighbourhood Policing Week highlights our ongoing commitment to tackling persistent offending and protecting our communities.

“I would encourage anyone who witnesses the terms of this order being broken, to contact the police immediately. The punishment for breaking the terms of a CBO can be up to five years in prison.”
