A fundraiser to help those affected by a fatal fire in Kirkby (Kur-bee) Lonsdale has gone over £15,000.

A man died following the blaze on Main Street last weekend with a number of homes badly damaged.

He's been named locally as 45-year-old Ben Taylor - who was a local business owner.

Fire crews were called to Main Street at 5.45 am on Sunday 8th December.

A man in his 40s was recovered from the building in the early hours of the morning, but pronounced dead at the scene - his next of kin has been told.

Another person referred himself to Lancashire Infirmary, and is being checked over for smoke inhalation.

No-one else is believed to have been hurt.

Some of Main Street remains cordoned off, over four days after the incident.
