Police are teaming up with Carlisle United to urge fans to enjoy this weekend’s match with Bolton Wanderers responsibly.

A bumper crowd is expected to attend the League One clash and officers are appealing for fans to not let emotions spill into criminal activity.

Superintendent Andy Wilkinson said:

"We are all looking forward to what will hopefully be a great event for both sets of supporters.

“We are expecting a big crowd, therefore there will be a significant policing presence in and around the stadium and city centre on Saturday. As with any high-profile event we will be on hand to ensure the safety of everyone.

"Whilst we appreciate the passion people have for their football team we are asking fans to remain respectful, responsible and mindful of others to ensure everyone can enjoy the match.

"Where an individual engages in unlawful behaviour, the police will step in and take action.”

Carlisle United’s Chief Executive, Nigel Clibbens, said:

“The rematch with Bolton promises to be a great game.

“With a crowd of over 10,000 expected and a big away following the atmosphere should be fantastic.

“We want fans to show all the support they can, but behaviour must be perfect too. Back the team but in the right ways.

“Let’s make the headlines for the right reasons with a great result and a great day in the stand and on the terraces as well.”
