'Dave Day' 2025 confirmed
It will be held in June - and includes a motorbike ride, from London to Barrow
It's been confirmed Dave Day will return next year (2025).
Organiser, Jason 'Woody' Woodcock confirmed to Greatest Hits Radio Cumbria, the event, which was a huge success in June, will be coming back.
46,000 bikers took to the roads, in memory of the Hairy Biker, Dave Myers, who sadly passed away in February after suffering with cancer.
In convoy, the entourage - which included bikers from across the UK and beyond - travelled over 300 miles from North London to Dave’s hometown of Barrow.
Once in Barrow, events - such as a music gig and a Festival of Dave - were held.
Woody said he was in awe of the sheer number of people getting involved:
"Completely and utterly blown away with the amount of people turning out to show their support. You know, we never ever expected that number of 46,000 plus bikes ever. It was phenomenal.
"And it wasn't just the bikes, it was the Barrow people - who opened their homes and welcomed us all with open arms - it was just phenomenal."
Dave Day 2025
We asked Woody what can we expect for next year's event:
“We can confirm we are going back to Barrow in 2025. We are currently looking at the route (from London to Barrow) and how we're going to adjust that to try and relieve some of the pressure on the motorway network. It might be a slightly different way we do it, but there still will be that route going off as before. We're just trying to work out what is the safest way to do.
“It's going to be on the 21st and the 22nd of June – so it’s a two-day event. We may even be setting off slightly a bit earlier because you know with the numbers that were involved, it took us a lot longer to get there than we thought.
“And in Barrow - we've also got a few things lined up. I can't speak about all of them, cause not all confirmed yet, but there's something going on mid afternoon. There definitely will be a concert again.
“And then on the Sunday, the plan is to have a food festival and bike festival in the shape or form of some sort of, you know, either competition or, you know, showing your bikes off.
“Obviously the food element is all about Dave, you know and so and all the rest of it. And let's just have something that isn't just about the bikes. Let's look at the food. Let's get the local produce. Let's promote people in that area and yea, just let everyone have a great time again.”
Woody said Lili, Dave's wife, is on board with this next year's Dave's Day after the success of this year's one:
"Lili is actually blown away by it all - she's chuffed at last year's ride and events in Barrow - and obviously wants to do it again - which is fantastic.
"And she's just taken her first motorbike lesson - so Lili's intention is that she's actually going to ride a bike on Dave Day. She's made that commitment. She's going to learn how to ride and ride a motorbike."
“I’m having a Dave Day!” raised money for two charities: The Institute for Cancer Research, London and Childline - and it will be the same for 2025.
Woody tells us further details on Dave Day 2025 will be released in due course.
