Carlisle Walking and cycling route under development
It's being branded a vital component of Carlisle’s Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan
Cumberland Council gears up for the next phase of its Carlisle LCWIP Route 38 – stretching from Cargo to Carlisle's Northern Bypass, starting on Monday 26 February.
The initiative, a vital component of Carlisle’s Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP), not only addresses safety concerns but also promises to enhance active travel between Cargo and Kingmoor. It's hoped the planned connections to schools, shops, and employment sites will make commuting easier for residents.
As part of the preparation for this route, the council will remove a hedge in the island section of the lay-by between the road and the lay-by.
Additionally, selective trimming of specific hedge areas towards the roundabout will be carried out. This project will start on Monday, and is expected to conclude within two days.
To facilitate the work, temporary traffic lights will be implemented throughout the duration of the project.
Access will be maintained for emergency services during the works.
