Strong winds in Cumbria sees power cut across the region
Electricity North West says gusts could mean it's unsafe for engineers to carry out repairs
Strong winds across the North West have caused residents across Cumbria to lose power overnight.
Electricity North West lists: Carlisle, Barrow and Copeland as some of the areas most impacted by the conditions.
In a statement, the provider said: "Our engineers are working hard to restore as many customers as they can."
"However, the strong gusts may mean it's unsafe for our engineers to climb poles to make the relevant repairs."
"Where weather conditions make it too unsafe for our engineers, we will have to stand them down."
"Please rest assured that as soon as it is safe for us to commence the repairs, we will be working hard to get all impacted customers back on supply as quickly as possible."
