A woman's been cleared of trying to murder her husband and a child in Carlisle.
53-year-old Jacqueline Mounsey had denied two counts of attempted murder - following the incident in the Morton area of Carlisle on 10th June.
Prosecutors alleged she stabbed Mark Bennett and the child, before injuring herself.
But after deliberations which took over 12 hours, the jury chose to clear her at the conclusion of her trial at Carlisle Crown Court.
Mounsey has instead been found guilty of wounding with intent to cause grevious bodily harm by a majority verdict.
She showed little emotion as verdicts were read out.
She has been remanded into custody until her sentencing in February.
Detective Constable Louise Telford from Cumberland CID was the investigating officer alongside senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Matthew Belshaw.
Speaking after the verdict he said: “The victims in this incident suffered life threatening stab wounds to the neck, which could have resulted in the loss of life.
“In an attempt to shift blame Mounsey also caused injury to herself, and manipulated the child to also lay blame elsewhere, only days later did Mousey admit to detective’s she had inflicted the wounds to herself and the victims.
“I would like to acknowledge the victims in this case in what was a distressing incident. This also had a significant impact on the close knit local community of Whernside.
“I would like to thank the members of the jury, this was a difficult incident which resulted in a child suffering a life-threatening injury, you have sat and listened carefully to the evidence presented and returned a guilty verdict.
“I must also take this opportunity to thank and praise the dedicated team of officers, specifically DC Louise Telford and staff from Cumbria Constabulary, children services and those who supported the child, courts and the experts who have worked to establish the facts of the incident and a true account of events. They have shown great skill and professionalism throughout.”
