Carlisle United are launching their new strips today for their first season as a newly promoted club.

They secured promotion last month after beating Stockport at Wembley in the play off final, meaning this year will be their first outing in league 1 for over a decade.

With a new league comes a new kit manufacturer, with the club dumping Errea (on good terms), for Umbro.

A small section of the new Umbro kit has now been teased by the club, with fans excited on the return to the original lighter blue kits, after Errea went for a slightly darker tone last year.

The clubs Chief Executive Nigel Clibbins had this to say ahead of the much anticipated launch: "It's being unveiled along side the fixtures with season ticket holders getting priority to get kit in the afternoon, with it going on general sale after that.

"Kits are always pretty emotive stuff in football, everybody has an opinion.

"We've been with Errea for five seasons and they've done really well with us. The kits have been liked. You always get glitches with any manufacturer but generally it went really well.

"We just felt it was time for a change. We left them on great terms. Last year's kit, not withstanding the success on the field, was a record breaker well before we got to the end of the season. We had to put extra orders in to get more kit. The fans really liked it and it was really different.

"It may not have appealed to the traditionalists, maybe it was a bit too dark, but this season we're going to go for something really different again, maybe a bit more traditional, and hopefully the fans like it.

"I think the away kit is going to be a real eye opener though, that's even more radical.

"It'll be really exciting to see the fans reaction to that, because i'm sure that'll have a real wow factor. Whether you like it or not it's pretty different."
