A Carlisle man has been jailed for more than six years after admitting to a series of historic sexual offences involving children.

Jacob Corrie, 31, was sentenced today (April 16) at Carlisle Crown Court to six years and four months in prison.

He had previously pleaded guilty to 19 offences, including nine counts of sexual activity with a child, eight counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and two counts of sexual communication with a child.

The offences took place in the Carlisle area between 2013 and 2014 and involved two victims who were both under the age of 16 at the time.

Detective Constable Rebecca Lynch of Cumberland CID said: “Corrie initially denied the offences during interview, but later pleaded guilty. He was fully aware of the victims’ ages when he committed these crimes.”

DC Lynch praised the bravery of the victims and highlighted the importance of reporting sexual offences, regardless of when they occurred.

She said: “We hope that this sentencing sends a clear message to survivors of sexual abuse.

“As a force, we are committed to thoroughly and compassionately investigating all reports of rape and serious sexual offences, no matter how much time has passed.

“We continue to urge anyone who has been a victim of a sexual offence to contact police so that our officers can investigate. You will be supported throughout our investigation, which is tailored to an individual’s circumstances.”
