Three Carlisle play areas to receive £250k of funding
Children will be asked what they want in their play areas
Three children's play areas in North Carlisle are set to receive £250,000 of funding for improvements over the next 12 months.
The money will be used to revamp play areas in Belah on Esk Road in Lowry Hill, Briar Bank at St Anns and Windsor Way.
The local councillor in charge of the plans, Gareth Ellis, hopes that improvements in St Anns will make it one of the top children's park in the city.
"It's fantastic news", Gareth Ellis told Greatest Hits Radio.
"We've got three play areas in the Belah area that are going to get investment, but the really exciting one is the one on Briar Bank. We're hoping it will be one of the best play areas in the whole of the city."
A consultation is being planned where the council will hear from children what they think should go on the parks, as councillor Ellis explains.
"These are play areas that have had their best", said Mr Ellis.
"They have been well used and they're just looking a bit sad and tired. We want to really make these better, but sometimes as adults we don't really know what children want, so we're going to organise a consultation with the children and get them to look at the kinds of equipment they want. They can choose what their play areas will look like."
