Burton in Kendal Services closed as police investigate incident

Offenders targeted an internal ATM before taking a store's cash register

Burton in Kendal Services is currently closed to the public and is likely to remain shut for some time following an incident in the early hours of this morning (21 Oct).

Police were contacted at 2.14am to a report that a number of offenders wearing balaclavas had arrived at the service station and attempted to steal an internal ATM at the services.

After failing to do that, they broke into a store and stole a cash register before driving away from the scene.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

As police continue with their investigations at the scene, the services is likely to remain closed for some time.

However, the petrol station and car park areas have now be reopened to the public.
