Police are teaming up with Carlisle United to urge fans to enjoy this weekend’s match with Bolton Wanderers responsibly.
A bumper crowd is expected to attend the League One clash and officers are appealing for fans to not let emotions spill into criminal activity.
Superintendent Andy Wilkinson said: "We are all looking forward to what will hopefully be a great event for both sets of supporters.
"We are expecting a big crowd, therefore there will be a significant policing presence in and around the stadium and city centre on Saturday. As with any high-profile event we will be on hand to ensure the safety of everyone.
"Whilst we appreciate the passion people have for their football team we are asking fans to remain respectful, responsible and mindful of others to ensure everyone can enjoy the match.
"Where an individual engages in unlawful behaviour, the police will step in and take action."
Blues manager Paul Simpson also weighed into the conversation, urging fans not to let one moment of stupidity ruin a day out for countless people.
He said: "Individuals, that's the issue. This shouldn't be something we have to say but just use your common sense.
"We all know what the right thing to say is and what's not the right thing. We all know whether it's right to throw something at somebody, we all know whether it's right to throw a flair or whatever else has been going on.
"It doesn't make me forget what a good part the fans are playing but it does spoil it a bit.
"There's a 10k plus crowd this weekend, which is brilliant. I'm delighted with how the fans are sticking by the football club."
Carlisle United’s Chief Executive, Nigel Clibbens, said: "The rematch with Bolton promises to be a great game.
"With a crowd of over 10,000 expected and a big away following the atmosphere should be fantastic.
"We want fans to show all the support they can, but behaviour must be perfect too. Back the team but in the right ways.
"Let’s make the headlines for the right reasons with a great result and a great day in the stand and on the terraces as well."
