Body found in search for missing man at Ullswater
Formal identification is yet to take place but his family have been told
Teams looking for a missing man who got into difficulty at Ullswater at the weekend have found a body.
The man, from Rochdale in Greater Manchester, reportedly fell into the water while paddleboarding with a friend around Aira Point near to the ferry stop at around 1.10pm on Sunday afternoon (7th August).
Cumbria Police have been working with the Fire and Rescue Service as well as local search and rescue teams looking for him ever since.
His family have been told although formal identification is yet to take place.
Police say his death is not being treated as suspicious.
The full statement from Cumbria Police said:
"The body of a man has been recovered from the water late this afternoon (11th Aug) by search teams who have been leading a search at Ullswater this week.
"The search team were deployed after a man in his mid-20s and from the Rochdale area was reported to have got into difficulties whilst paddleboarding on Ullswater on Sunday (Aug 8th) and was unaccounted for.
"The incident occurred at around 1.10pm on Sunday, in the vicinity of Aira Point, near to the ferry stop.
"The family of the missing man have been made aware of developments in the search.
"However, formal identification has yet to take place.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious."
