Arrest made after reports of man with knife in Carlisle

Police were deployed and were on the scene "within minutes"

Police in Cumbria have confirmed they have made an arrest, after reports of a man with a knife in the street in Carlisle.

The force were called to the scene at Linden Terrace at around 3.45pm yesterday (15 May).

Officers said a man was in the street making threats to other people.

In a statement, the force said: "Police were deployed and were on the scene within minutes before making the arrest.

"Nobody was hurt. The arrested man remains in custody.

"Extra officers are being deployed to the area this evening to offer reassurance to the community.

"Officers are aware of video footage being circulated on social media and would ask people not to share further so as not impact any potential criminal proceedings."
