Appeal after man suffers serious injuries in Workington assault
Officers want anyone who saw anything to contact them
Police are appealing for information after a man suffered serious injuries in an assault in Workington.
Officers were called at around 6.30pm last night, after reports a man had been attacked in the area of South William Street.
The man, who police say is local, was taken to Cumberland Infirmary where he remains.
In a statement, the force have said: "Officers believe that the man was assaulted and are making ongoing enquiries to fully establish the circumstances of the incident.
"A cordon remains in place in the area.
"Officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident or holds information about this incident."
