Yellow hearts put up in Leamington to remember loved ones lost to Covid
Each heart will be dedicated to someone who's died from coronavirus
A new art installation is being put up in Leamington, to remember people who have died of coronavirus. 💛
It'll be made up of yellow hearts, with each one dedicated to someone who's died from coronavirus.
The display will be put up in the windows of the Enchanted Tea Room in the Royal Priors Shopping Centre.
Kelly Iles runs the Enchanted Tea Room and started the project with her sister Jessica, after their dad died.
"One of the biggest things I want to achieve is, I think the public's perception of Covid is, it only takes elderly people's lives, that's not the facts anymore.
"The ages are coming down and down, there are a lot of young people lives people lost to Covid.
"No matter the age, they still didn't deserve to die from this cruel virus.
"I can't believe how many families, and how many people have lost their loved ones.
"I've very publicly let people know that I've lost my dad, and I've had hundreds and hundreds of other daughters, just like me, who have lost their fathers, who just contracted this disease and lost their lives.
"I've been connected to so many other people, there are many, many other daughters, sons, brothers, sisters losing their loved ones.
"I'm hoping that's what it will achieve, i'm hoping it will raise some awareness, and will allow the public to know, the yellow heart is a symbol of Covid.
"I do hope this will help families, to know there are others.
"I get comfort from the other people who have reached out to me.
"I don't want my dad's death to be forgotten, I don't want him to be a statistic, I don't want the sadness to consume me.
"I needed to do something positive, something nice.
"The project's given us something to do and a light at the end of the tunnel".
