World War Two bomb blown up in Warwickshire

A World War Two British era bomb's been blown up in Leamington.

It was reportedly recovered from the River Leam yesterday by magnet fishers - once found it was reported to Warwickshire Police who, with help from 11 experts from the EOD & Search Regiment, it was transported to the force's HQ in Leek Wootton.

Police say it was a 18-pound artillery shell and is the reason there were closures in the area as a result of the controlled explosion.

On Facebook, Warwickshire Police apologise to their resident goal keeper - because the bomb was blown up in the six-yard box of the football pitch!
