Wireless festival comes back to Birmingham

BIG news for Birmingham and the rest of the West Midlands - it's been announced that Wireless Festival is coming back! And it's expected to be bigger than ever.

The festival, which is billed as Europe’s biggest celebration of contemporary black music returns to Birmingham, from Friday 08th July – Saturday 10th July.

It'll take place at a brand new site outdoors at the National Exhibition Centre. In conjunction with sister events in London’s Crystal Palace Park and Finsbury Park, organisers tell us a full nine days of programming across the sites makes Wireless the biggest festival of its kind.

The headliners confirmed so far who will be coming to Brum are;

Dave (Friday)

Cardi B (Saturday)

J. Cole (Sunday)

A second drop of acts will be announced at 12:00pm today (25th February).

Tickets will be exceptionally high demand and fans are encouraged to buy early to avoid disappointment. Tickets go on general sale 12:00PM midday Monday 28 Feb www.wirelessfestival.co.uk.

In a statement, festival bosses say; 'Dave will headline Friday having cemented himself as a bona-fide generational talent at the top of UK rap’s apex. At only 23 years old and having won nearly every major UK musical accolade possible, with a trick bag of fan favourites like Location, Funky Friday, Thiago Silva and fresh off the release of new album ‘We’re All Alone In This Together’, Dave is ready to step fully into his star moment.

'Rap and pop-culture queen Cardi B will bring the energy with a huge hits-fuelled headline show on Saturday. Since the release of her critically acclaimed number one debut album ‘Invasion Of Privacy’, Cardi B has been placed within the pantheon of great rappers - The New York superstar continues to break records and has ascended to the heights at the centre music pop-culture back by with immaculate delivery and wig snatching fun.

'Headlining Sunday outside at Birmingham NEC is a UK exclusive set from rap royalty J. Cole. Having earned his idol status, the superstar rapper has been navigating issues of race, class and gender at the top of his game for over a decade. Hype for his newest album, 'The Off-Season' reached astronomical heights and has seen him revered by all. '
