An adoption agency across the West Midlands says it's vital they continue their work to help support children who are searching for forever homes.

Adoption Central England (ACE) are backing a national You Can Adopt campaign, which aims to highlight the need for more adopters to come forward in the country.

Head of services for the group Brenda Vincent, says while they are pleased more families have come forward to adopt, there's still a shortfall.

"The campaign is really critical because there is a shortage of adoptive parents nationally," she said.

"There are twice as many children waiting for adoptive parents to what there are in terms of families who are available to adopt those children.

"We feel part of this crisis in the shortage of adoptive parents is due to the cost of living, which obviously impacts people's decisions about having families, and for us, it's important about finding the right families for the right children.

"Adoption is important because it's about children, and what every child deserves is the stability of living in a family where they can stay until they grow up and live independently and beyond."

ACE runs services in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire.
