All remaining waste drop-off sites to close in Coventry
They were set up in reaction to the ongoing bin lorry driver strikes

The waste drop sites in Coventry, set up in reaction to the bin lorry driver strikes, are set to close from Monday 16 May following the re-introduction of garden waste bin collections.
The city council says with the recent resumption of garden waste collections, all three bins are now being collected again. They say that this has resulted in fewer people using the drop sites.
The Environment agency issued temporary permission for the sites to operate to help minimise the impact of the strike. This permission ends on 16 May in line with the closures.
This means that this weekend (14 May) will be the last weekend for residents to dispose of their household and recycling waste at a drop site before they close permanently.
Councillor Patricia Hetherton, cabinet member for city services at Coventry City Council, said: “I’d like to thank everyone that has made use of the drop sites to get rid of their rubbish and recycling. They served us well – but the Environment Agency permission is set to end so they must now close. I’d also like to thank the teams that have worked at the sites through some of the coldest weather and always with a positive and helpful approach.”
All drop sites will close on Monday 16 May at 4.30pm, except the Wyken Slough drop site, off Aldermans Green Road, which will close on Sunday 15 May at 4.30pm instead.
The Council says it's continuing its negotiations with Unite and bin lorry drivers to try and find a solution to the strike action.
