Nearly 90 organisations in Warwickshire have come together to support those struggling with social isolation and fuel poverty.

Warwickshire Rural Community Council (WRCC) has been working with local partners to open Warm Hubs, amid the cost-of-living crisis.

The majority are ran by community organisations and opened in the winter, in response to rising energy bills.

Jackie Holcroft, WRCC Warm Hubs manager, said they started this project over two years ago, but had to expand as the economic situation worsens.

She explained: "It’s amazing to step back and see how much is going on in the county, and to see how much people are prepared to do for others.

"The difference the community can make is so important."

The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) in Stratford-Upon-Avon is the latest venue to offer a warm space this week.

They are running it in the foyer of The Other Place, the Company’s studio theatre, every Tuesday until the end of March.

The venue will offer refreshments, free Wi-Fi, as well as arts and craft workshops for adults, after-school activities, and a creative play space.

Nicola Salmon, the RSC’s Creative Placemaking Manager, said: "We are working in collaboration with the other Warm Hubs available in the area.

"We wanted to play our part in offering our local community a warm and welcoming space during the winter months."

WRCC's Warm Hubs provide a range of different activities and are all welcoming community spaces where people can meet up safely.
