Over £350,000 seized in Warwickshire cannabis raids
Warwickshire Police say they've taken 450 cannabis plants off the streets in the last week.
Warwickshire Police say they have recovered and seized over 400 cannabis plants with a value of over £350,000.
Two separate raids were conducted by officers on Tuesday (18 July) and Wednesday (19 July) in Bedworth and Nuneaton.
In the Bedworth raid on Tuesday, around 300 plants in total were seized. Back-of-the-napkin calculation of £800 per plant when cropped means a potential street value of around £240,000.
The actual street value can vary depending on the strain and size of the plant, along with a variety of other factors.
Two males were arrested following this warrant, and both have been charged with cultivation of cannabis (Beqir Kola, 21 of no fixed abode; and Avel Dani, 21 of no fixed abode). They are both appearing in Coventry Magistrates Court today for their first hearing.
In the Nuneaton raid on Wednesday, around 150 plants in total were seized; with an estimated street value of around £120,000. No arrests have been made in connection to this address.
Chief Inspector Steve Davies said “Every cannabis plant off the street is another step towards ripping out organised crime in Warwickshire by the roots. We’re very happy with the results of the two warrants this week.
“These actions don’t grow from nothing, so I’d also like to thank all of our officers who have worked hard in making these warrants a reality, and to members of the community for providing the vital intelligence we needed to act.”
