Three men have been sentenced for more than 60 years in prison for the murder of Marvin Warmington in Coventry.

Momoh Sesay, Arhin Tutu and Daniel Israel were all sentenced on 26 March.

Sesay was given life with a minimum of 26 years for murder, Tutu was given life with a minimum of 27 years for murder, while Israel will serve 11 years for manslaughter.

The trio were all also convicted of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, with their sentences to run concurrently.

The three men were convicted earlier this month of their involvement in Mr Warmington's death, which happened in Gosford Green Park on 20 August last year.

Mr Warmington's family has issued a fresh tribute to the 47-year-old, who they described as "extremely kind and empathetic."

They said: "It has been very difficult to put words together to express what our life has been like since this has happened to our Marvin, and that’s because as a family there are no words that can truly express how we feel; we feel lost. We are lost.

"Marvin was such a big part of our lives, he was such a big part of his friends’ lives.

"He was loved and liked by all who knew him. He was always smiling and his face lit up when he smiled.

"He was funny, he was attentive and extremely loving towards his friends and family. He felt very protective over us, and we felt very safe with Marvin."

Mr Warmington was killed after an argument over the theft of a shared bicycle.

In the early hours of 20 August 2023, following the argument, the group were in Gosford Green Park when Mr Warmington was stabbed in the heart.

Detective Sergeant Leigh Harrison, from our Homicide unit, said: "This was a senseless and violent act which cost Mr Warmington his life.

"We hope this conviction will bring some closure to his family following their loss."
