At just before midnight on Wednesday, a break-in was reported on Cedar Road in Nuneaton allegedly involving a male with a long-bladed weapon and a female.

A pair matching this description were later seen walking down a nearby road and were believed to have entered a property at Balmoral Court, Nuneaton.

Police officers attempted to make an arrest at the property, at which point a stand-off took place, leading to a cordon which was set up around Balmoral Court for most of the day.

At 12:30am, one 19-year-old woman was arrested after leaving the address presenting a deep injury to her leg, for which she was taken to hospital, but a number of individuals reportedly remained inside.

At 1pm yesterday, five people surrendered from the house and were taken into custody.

They include:

Two 16-year-old boys from Nuneaton have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, violating section 3 of the Public Order Act, and possession of an offensive weapon (on police bail at time of writing)

Two 19 year old men from Nuneaton on suspicion of aggravated burglary (on police bail at time of writing)

One 19 year old man from Nuneaton on suspicion of aggravated burglary (in detention at time of writing)

The cordon around Balmoral Court was lifted around 1:30pm.

Chief Inspector Steve Davies said “I’m sure that I’m not alone when I say that we as a community are tired of the violent actions of certain groups of individuals.

“Through Operation Outfitter, which has recently come to a close, we have a much better idea of who the main perpetrators of these violent crimes are, and as today has shown, we are still taking swift and robust action whenever we detect their scent.

“Let this be a warning to these individuals, to their friends, and anyone who is thinking of emulating them – we know who you are, we know where you are, we will find you, and we will take action against you.”
