Op Sceptre: Coventry neighbourhood police share stats after busy week
Teams across the city carried out operations including patrols, engagement and targeted arrests
The neighbourhood policing team in Coventry say they had a busy week last week, as part of Operation Sceptre, the nationwide campaign against knife crime.
West Midlands Police say teams across the city carried out operations including patrols, engagement and targeted arrests to disrupt and raise awareness of knife crime and serious youth violence.
Sharing the data, the team added: "Officers from the North West team took part in weapon sweeps of Nauls Mill Park, as well as similar work in the surrounding area, while the Hillfields team visited Coventry Cadets to deliver bleed kit training.
"The Hillfields team also visited Mosaic Church to find out about their ongoing community work, as well as sharing information around Sceptre.
"Elsewhere in Hillfields, the team visited shops in and around Jubilee Crescent to check on sales of age-restricted items.
"The teams also carried on their regular work responding to issues raised by the community.
"The Radford neighbourhood team seized a car after the driver failed to stop.
"Checks on the car showed it had no insurance or tax, so it was recovered and the driver detained.
"The Stoke and Wyken team visited hotels in the area to talk to staff about how to reduce overnight thefts from vehicles.
"Every day across the West Midlands, our dedicated teams of neighbourhood officers carry out patrols and operations targeting areas of concern.
"Our work is often informed by intelligence and information we receive from the public, which is why reporting crime, anti-social behaviour and suspicious activity via 101 or online is so important.
