A Nuneaton man who raped a woman after giving her a lift has been jailed for six years.

On 23 July, Rory Glover (26 of Tryan Road, Nuneaton) sexually assaulted and raped a woman after giving her a lift home from a night out.

Rory, upon taking the woman back to her home, followed them inside their property and proceeded to have sex with them without their consent.

The victim was not aware that Rory had followed her inside the property until he began to assault her.

Rory appeared in court for sentencing today (12 October) and received six years for rape, and three years for sexual assault to be served concurrently.

He has also been added to the sex offenders register for life under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 and has been given a restraining order preventing contact with the victim.

DC McCauley of the Domestic Abuse, Rape, and Serious Sexual Offences Team (DART) said “Rory has been given six years to seriously consider what he has done, to really come to terms with the fundamental selfishness of his actions.

“We hope that he might come close to understanding the lasting impact to the victim, and the victim’s family and friends.”
