A football club in Warwickshire say this weekend's game could be their last ever.

On their Twitter, Nuneaton Borough broke the news with a link to their website.

The club, who are members of the Southern League Premier Division Central, have faced problems off the pitch in recent weeks - which includes an eviction notice from their ground on Liberty Way.

Earlier this month, the club offered an update on the current situation, following Stuart Elliott stepping down as club chairman.

They say:

Currently we have explored all options with Arden Tigress.

They have acted on a technicality at a time when the club was on course to have all rent paid up by December, and generate a significant amount of money via three home games and our fireworks night.

We didn’t receive any prior notice of their action and once they locked the ground up

Stuart Elliott immediately spoke with them and offered to pay all outstanding rent which was refused, since then our Lawyer has spoken to them with a formal offer of all rent plus 6 month advance rent.

This has also been rejected.

The advice we have received says that “No landlord would stop a business trading at a time when that business would be generating significantly amounts so the all their bills would be paid and be in a healthy position to trade moving forward, unless the landlord had a different agenda”

This course of action by Arden Tigress has cost the club over £60k in lost revenue and that figures increases everyday.

They describe the position of the club as 'perilous'.

Earlier today, the club say their league game against Alvechurch on Saturday will be played at Stratford Town FC's ground - and have thanked owner Jed McCrory for letting the team use the pitch.

The club say they're working 'extremely hard to rectify the current situation' - but the game could be the last time Boro play.

They've thanked fans for their 'unbelievable' support.
