A man who repeatedly stole from shops in Coventry has been jailed.

Police were called after goods were taken from a store in Humber Road in Lower Stoke, on 25 July.

34 year-old Ricky Sturges was arrested and jailed for four weeks at Coventry Magistrates Court on Saturday.

Sturges was already on a suspended prison sentence after being convicted of shop thefts in Stoke and Wyken.

In a statement, Coventry and Warwickshire Police said: "We know the impact of theft on our businesses and communities which is why we are committed to taking action across the city.

"We're taking preventative and enforcement action as part of #SaferStreetsSummer."
