West Midlands Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian sustained serious injuries when they were struck by a car in Coventry.

It happened on Carey Street, at the junction with Bell Green Road, at around 6.15pm last Tuesday (3 December).

A 48-year-old man is understood to have been crossing at the junction when he was hit by a blue VW Golf turning into Carey Street.

The man suffered significant head injuries and remains in a critical condition in hospital.

The driver of the Golf remained at the scene and is supporting officers with their investigation.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the force's serious collision investigation unit, said: "This collision happened early evening and I believe there were a number of people and cars in the area of the junction. I would appeal for anyone who hasn’t spoken to us to please get in touch.

"It is important that we get the answers for all those involved. If you have any information, no matter how small, please do not assume we know the information you have."
