A man has been jailed for growing class B drugs in Rugby.

Officers stormed a building in Bawnmore Road to find four rooms full of cannabis plants.

On entry they arrested Yuger Stafa.

The house was raided after enquiries in the local area raised suspicion the property was being used to grow cannabis.

Officers seized 167 established plants and further 229 young plants.

Detective Constable Chris Batchelder from Rugby Proactive CID said: “This was a significant find that could have sold for more than half a million pounds. I’d like to thank local people who provided intelligence that helped us take these drugs off the streets and to stop people from profiting from this illicit trade.”

Stafa, 26, of no fixed abode was jailed for 8 months at Warwick Crown Court on Tuesday (3 October) having pleaded guilty to producing cannabis.
