Man charged over police pursuit crash on Foleshill Road

Charges have been made following a pursuit on 1 September which resulted in a car colliding with other cars and a pedestrian.

Ayman Rafiq, 32 from Park Street, Coventry, has been charged with failure to stop, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, and driving while disqualified.

Rafiq has been remanded until his next appearance in Coventry Crown Court on 24 September 2024

This follows a road traffic collision with multiple cars and a pedestrian on Foleshill Road and the A444 around midnight on 1 September.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital and was later found to have a fractured leg.

The collision took place during a police pursuit after the car reportedly failed to stop when requested by officers.

The incident has been referred to the IOPC as is standard practice in an incident following police activity.
