A man has been charged after a 53-year-old was found fatally stabbed at a property in Coventry earlier this week.

Police were called to Aldrich Avenue on Tuesday morning (18 November), where they discovered Anthony Priestley with severe injuries.

Despite the efforts of emergency crews, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of murder shortly afterwards.

Alexander Neilson, of no fixed address, has now been charged with murder and aggravated burglary.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Coventry Magistrates’ Court later today (21 November).

Anthony’s family have since paid an emotional tribute, the statement reads: “Anton, we loved you so much and we cannot imagine that we’re never going to see you again. Our love for you will never end."

His daughter also shared a touching message: “Thanks for all the lovely memories I have of you. Your loving daughter.”

Police continue to support the family as the investigation continues.
