A 27-year-old man from Nuneaton has been arrested after a burglary took place in Hartshill.

Two men are reported to have entered the victim’s home and held a knife to his throat.

The victim was said to have been struck by one of the assailants, who then stole their moped, along with a helmet and a small amount of cash.

The moped was recovered a short time later, following officers intercepting the moped in New Arley and the 27-year-old was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, possession of an offensive weapon, and possession of cannabis.

Detective Inspector Carl Buckley said “It’s thanks to the quick responses of our officers that we were able to recover the victim’s moped as fast as we did, and to arrest identify and arrest a suspect.”

Operation Outfitter is underway in Nuneaton and Bedworth, which is a targeted set of activity to reduce violent crime in the area, particularly involving knives.

Chief Inspector Steve Davies said “Violent crime will not be tolerated in our communities, and we are taking fast and decisive action to cut it out at the roots.

“Through Outfitter, we’re taking a direct approach to targeting offenders at the heart of the current generation of violence in Nuneaton and Bedworth, ensuring our community’s safety for the future.”
