Four police officers are injured after a fight in the stands at the CBS Arena, during the match between Coventry City and Derby County at the weekend.

A fight broke out between rival fans around 4:30pm on Saturday which was dealt with by officers. A 23-year-old man was arrested.

As fans left a further disorder took place outside the stadium, which officers brought under control and the crowd was dispersed.

One of the four injured police officers suffered a dislocated shoulder and was treated in hospital. The three other officers suffered minor injuries.

Brandon Mall, of Dartmouth Road, Coventry, has been charged with affray and is due before Coventry Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday). He remains in police custody.

Assistant Chief Constable Jayne Meir, said: "While the vast majority of football fans attend matches to enjoy the game, it is wholly unacceptable that officers get injured during violence like that seen yesterday.

"A full investigation is under way in partnership with the club and those found to have taken part in the disorder face prosecution and a ban from future matches."
