Firefighters tackled a house fire in Coventry this morning (January 19).

Crews from Coventry, Binley, and Foleshill fire stations attended the scene on Ansty Road at around 7:55am.

West Midlands Fire Service said the fire was located in a first-floor bedroom of the property and six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze using hose reel jets.

A man and woman were treated at the scene after breathing in smoke and taken to hospital as a precaution.

Neighbours were evacuated from nearby houses while crews checked for signs of the fire spreading.

The fire service said the fire is believed to have started accidentally and was under control by 8.37am.
